City Falls at Midwest
Final: Midwest FC (2-0-1) 3 - Lansing City Football (1-1-1) 0. A tough night out for Lansing City as they headed out west to take on Midwest FC with the winner taking first place in the Great Lakes Division. The game was moving pretty well for the first twenty minutes with City getting their fair share of chances, as well as Midwest. It was on the 22’ minute when Midwest would have a ball into the box and the pair of center backs on City would clash, causing the ball to be left rolling in front of the keeper, and a blast into the back of the net and a costly mistake would set Lansing City back. City would put the pressure back on Midwest but only momentarily, as the back line had left an over the top run open for the left wing of Midwest to make a run into the box and one on one with the keeper, as the Midwest winger tucked it in to make things 2-0. The rest of the half would be back and forth build ups, showing that the two goals Lansing had given up were costly and that without the mistakes things could still be level at 0-0. The boys would come out of the locker room and within four minutes into the half Midwest would find the back of the net again from an amazing goal from outside the box. It is safe to say Lansing City did not have their night in Van Andel Stadium, but the boys move forward and look ahead to their next opponent. The boys will take seven days off before their next USL2 match when they head out to Flint to take on the Flint City Bucks at 11:00AM on Wednesday 31st at Atwood Stadium, to close out the month of May.
